The June Niles Art Walk

The June Niles Art Walk is offering a variety of displays and diverse subjects for visitors as the district eases into summer.

Corrie Glass is pleased to host emerging local artist, Stephen Barkkarie. While growing up, he was exposed to the art his mother created and the large collection his father had acquired; but it was years later before he became inspired to capture places that touched his heart by the medium of water color. He has been influenced by professional artists, Douglas and Janet Chun and is currently studying under award winning artist Charlotte Severin. Now he paints places, people and, other things he loves. In celebration of the new railroad themed Niles Town Plaza, his presentation at the Art Walk will center around one of his passions, trains.

For a different spectrum, teen artists will be demonstration their talents. These will be free form displays either adding to already begun paintings of local themes such as Old Town Niles or new creative beginnings. This is hopefully going to be an ongoing project with each painting having multiple artists making their contributions.

The Fremont Art Association is honored to once again present an outstanding artist and instructor, Laura Williams, The Laura Williams June workshop will focus on the exploration of color and basic value patterns. Participants will paint and the instructor will provide personal assistance. To take part in the workshop, registration must be done in advance. The cost is $150.00 for the 2 day series. For more information contact Patty O'Rourke at 510-487-1099 or e-mail patty_orourke_art@yahoo.com

Several other locations will be open and participation by sharing paintings, jewelry, and pottery.

Our First Annual 10% Club Party Night at Corrie Glass Studio

Hi folks and welcome to our brand new Corrie Glass Blog. Please be kind for this is the first time I have ever tried anything like this.

I was explaining earlier to my brother Guy that is was a lot harder to figure out than I thought. His suggestion was for me to find a 14 year old to help me out and I'm beginning to think he was right.

Well here goes...

We had a blast here at our studio last Thursday night for we had our first annual 10% Club Party and a great time was had by all.

What is the 10% Club?

It's a fast growing group of folks who have spent at or over $250.00 on our jewelry and what that entitles them to is a 10% discount on all of the jewelry that Judy and I make in the store. And on our 10% Club Party Night we give an additional 10% off so all of the jewelry is marked down 20%!! And you can talk to our designer (the woman in my life for the past 44 years) and even new designs may be created.

Judy spent a lovely day and a half in her kitchen baking some wonderful sweet things for the evening.

Black Bottom Cupcakes, Lemon Bar with a short dough cookie base, Ginger Snaps using candied ginger, Marscarpone with whipped cream, pistachios, cardamon and orange slice on top (you needed a spoon with this one) and last but not least, a Fruit and Nut Bread that was even good for you. And Judy just reminded me of the always present Sunol strawberry's, sour cream and then roll it all in brown sugar. All of this was way to good.

Judy and I had the great fortune of having a local guitarist/singer, Matt perform for our party with his mellow sounds that went so wonderfully with the evening.

And you must have something to quaff with all of that so various libations were on hand and I still can not believe that we still had some champagne left. Next time I hope everyone will try much harder.

And now to the winner of our $50.00 gift certificate!!!!

The winner is........

Beth H.

She had the right mojo then and now. Congratulations
Come on by and do some more shopping on us.

We are now already making plans for our bash next year. How to top this one will be a challenge but I'm sure with great customers as you are, we can do it.

Thank you all.
